Arlee-Jane, Abbee, Cloe and Halee all decided it was time to shorten those locks! It usually takes me some time to work up the nerve to attempt such a daunting feat! But I decided to jump right in this time. This was Arlee-Jane's FIRST haircut. She didn't want the brush to touch her, so it was tricky. She encouraged me to use those scissors though - guess I better keep a watch out for mini makeovers :o)! To help me keep her head straight Halee read her two books. The first was Little Red Bird by Nick Bruel and the second was Belinda Begins Ballet by Amy Young. A huge helper is my sweet Halee! I don't have a picture of Abbee's new do...she hopped into gaming with Willie as soon as she was done.

Library Takes Shape
Today we have worked diligently towards setting up our Academy Library. I knew that things were going well when Cloe said, "This feels like we are working in a library!" This has been a great day for "copy work" and "counting"!!! Abbee has been counting the number of pages in each book she recorded. We noticed that for some reason most of the early reader books were not numbered. They have all done a wonderful job with their assignments. You would all be proud. Are you interested in borrowing a book? Let us know. We will be moving right into the nuts and bolts of the library system as soon as the inventorying is complete. There is so much more to a library than using a membership card to check out a book! Oh yeah, we are making some of those too!

Surveys Printed
Well, it took longer than we thought, but the surveys are on the way out. Now I am sure the girls will be excited to check the mailbox everyday. I wonder who will return theirs first. I think I should have the girls make that prediction.
We are also finalizing our first newsletter to be sent out this week. If you would like to be included in these monthly mailings, please let us know. You can reach the school email at websteracademy@yahoo.com. If you prefer, you can also leave a comment here...we love to read the comments.

Nutrition Research Project
This week the girls are embarking on a term long project revolving around the meals that people eat. They are extremely thrilled about this program.
- The goal this week is to develop a form that they will use for background information.
- Next week they will be mailing you a questionnaire...please fill this out and mail it back to the student who requests your input.
Filos Family Visit
Friday was wonderful....fantastic as Abbee would say. We were fortunate to have found out that Rob and Naomi had their 15Th anniversary on Thursday. Of course we would turn our scheduled play date into a celebration in honor of this wonderful couple! I wish I would have carried the camera around the entire day...but I was enjoying myself chatting with the grownups too much.
CONGRATULATIONS ROB & NAOMI!
All of the children enjoyed the pool and yummy food. Halee and Rebekah were still tired from their youth group trip on Thursday. They traveled to Carowinds for a grand time with great friends. Halee said that the concert was so loud it was like she could feel it inside her chest. (Sounds too loud for me)
First Day of School Aug 09
Monday was our first day of school. We had a lot of fun. Discussions included our time lines, curriculum, special projects and promotion ceremony. Everyone was so excited....when we were done for the day, they begged to do more. Luckily we are not in short supply of class work. The journal entries seem to be one of the favorite daily activities....we will do that last everyday! ;o) I guess that means MATH will be first...?
